Every year, beginning in 2007, VCA Superkids has been hosting a Camping event for children ages 4 to 12. What made this year's camping event "Shaping the Next Generation's History-Makers" different? On top of the usual activities, EGR for kids and games- the Children's Ministry has heaped this year's event with a huge serving of Avilon Zoo adventure (to satisfy the kids' cravings for knowledge & curiosity), a tantamount filling of a compressed version of Children's Vacation Bible School and a sprinkle of grace for having with us Pastors Craig & Teresa King from Canada- all topped with fabulous awards and loads of freebies!
May 23, 2010. After a scenic ride to Montalban, Rizal- the kids, teachers, and a handful of guardians marched into Avilon Zoo. That to start, the kids were grouped according to their age levels & were in line as they were led by their teachers flaunting "God's Big Backyard" (adapted theme) shirts. Jaws dropped, coupled with shrieks of delight as they spotted a group of gigantic fish called Arapaima... and that was just the beginning of the tour! All the unusual animals the kids met were far too many to remember- but highlighting the 3-hour tour was a stop at a bloated Orang-utan, feeding the Arapaima & the rabbits, and seeing the talent demonstration, together with photo sessions with the Philippine Monkey-Eating Eagle.
Like children who never get tired, the kids then marched onto Noah's Park. After a short briefing and a long walk, they demonstrated their independence & responsibility by unpacking their things- which include tents and mats- some of which were bigger than themselves!

That same evening, the same energetic kids engaged in a heart-felt praise & worship in the park's Pavilion. The EGR highlighted a clip showing Christ's suffering and crucifixion. After Pastor Tonette Padua's words of encouragement & intense prayer- it was amazing to see the children surrender and commit themselves to Jesus! It was evident that the Holy Spirit was in that place that night- touching the children on their knees, most of them in tears.
May 24, 2010. The kids woke up at 6am for breakfast and followed with more praise and action songs. After the compressed Vacation Bible School lessons, the rest of the day was spent on fun games and swimming- all promoting cooperation, team work and camaraderie.
Capping the conference was the awarding ceremonies. The children were rewarded with ribbons, fun gadgets, toys and their Certificates to take home and to remember the event. Awarded as this year's Mr. & Ms. Camp were Adrian Jacob & Ciphia Mae Molina.
