Basic Music Lessons

Written by  Gay Tria

Psalm 33:3

Sing to him a new song; play skillfully, and shout for joy.

Just like how David prepared and conscientiously planned the building of God’s temple, it is just apt to regale the Lord a service that is fit for the King.

Remarkably, not only did David divided the responsibilities in building the temple among his people, he also designated the Levites accordingly and trained them skilfully for the Lord (1 Chronicles 25).

With the same view of pre-eminence in the service of our Lord Jesus, Victory Churches of Asia (Fairview) continually brings the area of worship to a notch higher by providing its worship team rigid trainings and workshops.

For the year 2010, VCA Fairview conducted Basic Music Lessons for four consecutive Saturdays of May which proceeded under the facilitation of Miss Emerald Bernal. With years of experience as a music teacher and choir conductor, Miss Bernal divided the sessions to two hours every Saturday.

The training kicked-off with the basic components of music which discussed Rhythm that includes Time Signatures, kinds of Notes, Rests, and Tempo. Two days were allotted for the first part of the session which included the application of theories through routines and exercises.

The ensuing sessions were devoted to learning music pieces, thus understanding STAFF, CLEFS (G clef and F clef), TIME and KEY SIGNATURES, as well as singing and hitting the right NOTES. Consequently, the training session wouldn’t be complete without knowing how to read music pieces and defining the musicians and singers lot in the whole process of executing superb music.

With the VCA Worship team pledge to serve in excellence, edification would continue to spread like a wildfire and be unceasing in their quest to train others to move farther and better in their chosen Ministry.
